INDUSTRY & POLICY

Intrafy Supports a Stronger Massachusetts Film and Television Industry

August 2026

Intrafy is proud to join members of the Massachusetts production community in supporting Sections 63, 77, and 89 of H.5576, which would extend the eligibility period for Massachusetts film and television production incentives from 12 months to 24 months.

Massachusetts has built a strong film, television, and streaming production ecosystem supported by skilled professionals, production companies, studios, post-production providers, and other specialized businesses. However, the current 12-month expenditure window can create challenges for productions that naturally extend beyond one year.

Television and streaming series, documentaries, reshoots, visual effects, editing, sound production, and other post-production work often continue well after principal photography is completed. When these expenses fall outside the current eligibility period, productions may have an incentive to move portions of their work to other states.

Many of Massachusetts’ major competitors for film and television production do not impose a similar 12-month restriction.

Extending the eligibility window to 24 months would better reflect how modern productions are actually made and help Massachusetts remain competitive in attracting projects, retaining skilled professionals, and supporting businesses across the production ecosystem.

As a Massachusetts-based company providing multilingual media, localization, voice-over, subtitling, and related production services, Intrafy is pleased to support this effort and the continued growth of the Commonwealth’s creative economy.
